The Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

The quickest win I’ve encountered for weight loss and lowering blood sugar is called Bulletproof Coffee. Bulletproof is a brand, but it’s also a way to describe a recipe. I’m using the term in the recipe sense. You can buy everything you need either at  the grocery store on on Amazon. This is the Bulletproof Coffee recipe.

The ingredients for Bulletproof Coffee

You’ll need 3 ingredients that need to meet exact specifications.

1. Kerrygold unsalted grass fed butter

The butter must be 100% grass fed. Kerrygold unsalted butter is grass fed and available in many grocery stores.

It is vital that you do not substitute ingredients! Substituting non grass fed butter or adding creamer or sugar will sabotage your results.

2. MiCkey T™ Eight™ Pure C-8 Caprylic Acid

32 oz is enough for around a month or a little more. It’s replacing the cost of whatever you were previously eating for breakfast.

3. Your favorite coffee – preferably organic

If you like coffee but it causes tummy discomfort or jitters, you may be mold sensitive. I recommend the Bulletproof brand of coffee in this case, as they specialize in selling mold-free coffee.

Kitchen items needed for Bulletproof Coffee

  • An electric blender or hand whisk narrow enough to fit into a mug – The device only has to be capable of mixing coffee and butter info a froth. It does NOT require enough torque to flip a bulldozer. If using a blender, try to get one made primarily of glass.
  • a regular table knife to slice the butter
  • a stainless steel tablespoon
  • a glass, ceramic or stainless steel mug that can hold 16 oz of coffee or tea. Do NOT use styrofoam unless you want to clean bulletproof coffee off the floor.

Steps to prepare for Bulletproof Coffee

  • Slice off 1 tbsp of butter and put it in the blender. In case you are new to butter, there are markings on the wrapping. I prefer 2 tbsp, but recommend you start at 1 tbsp and see if you actually need more to keep from feeling hungry before lunch.
  • Pour 1-2 tbsp of MiCkey T™ Eight™ oil. I highly recommend starting no higher than 1 tbsp and working your way up to 2. This is to avoid the slight possibility of “disaster pants”.
  • Dump 16 oz of hot coffee or tea into the blender.
  • Blend for about 10-20 seconds in a blender. When traveling, I sometimes shake it hard in a travel mug (Release the pressure after the first couple shakes!). Blending is an important step that improves bioavailability, texture, flavor and enjoyment.
  • Pour into a mug and enjoy!

Later in the morning, if you feel hungry, drink a cup of back coffee without the butter and MCT oil.

Bulletproof Coffee replaces breakfast!

Do not eat other food with Bulletproof Coffee! The coffee mixture will replace breakfast entirely.  This is critical as eating along with Bulletproof coffee will, in nearly all cases, result in weight gain instead of weight loss. You won’t feel hungry either. I have another post that geeks out on how and why it works.

What to expect from Bulletproof Coffee

  • Fat loss at a rate of about 2-4 lbs per week.
  • No mid-morning hunger or energy crash (may take a day or two for your body to get with the program)
  • Improved mental focus through the morning. There’s a reason the MiCkey T™ Eight™ motto is “Brain on Fire”. Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) provide your brain with a stable energy source (ketones) that fosters concentration. Many find it easier to get into a flow state and describe the feeling as “in the zone”.
  • Replacing clothing with smaller sizes is an expense to prepare for.

    Hi Pierre!

    It has benefits in both scenarios! I still drink Bulletproof coffee daily for breakfast. I’m one of those that gets the nice mental focus from it, so it’s a keeper.

    I am not a breakfast person so this works for me .. how many hours after drinking the bullet coffee should you have lunch?

    Hi Irma!

    A successful meal should leave you satisfied for 4-5 hours. Many report the BP coffee blend will stave off hunger for more than that. I generally get about 6-7 hours without feeling hungry. If you get hungry sooner than 4 hours, it’s okay. It just means some detective work is in order to discover why.
